2011 memories
Future Ticia 2023 is combining and updating posts, moving some memories off of posts and all that stuff, but here we go. I’m gonna start shoving posts into one great smorgasbord of a post.

Another thing kids are not as helpful as they seem

Really with their help it took me over 2 hours. When I went back by myself and did a second coat, it was about 30 minutes and nowhere near as messy.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering magnetic paint does not come off very easily. Not at all.
I’m declaring today a computer-free day January 25
Well, that’s what I’m going to try and do. So, if I don’t read your post today or comment, that’s why. I’m feeling a little stressed and harried, and some of it is because I know I’ve been spending too much time on the computer and not enough time doing things I need to do.
Instead I will be:

Yes, they are sword fighting in the back seat of the car……
And maybe even digging in the dirt.
They’re getting tricksy
We recently installed DC Online on our computers. Not too surprisingly Superman and Batman are very excited about this game and have happily designed their favorite heroes.
I got up this morning after an extra little nap courtesy of Princess and her coming down in tears and saying “I’m tired,” thank you boys for waking her, by the way.
Well, Batman quite happily ran up to me and said, “Mommy, Daddy made a fire. When you go to sit by the fire can I play Iron Man on your computer?”
Tricksy boy, he knew I like fires and he was trying to lure me away from my computer.
Okay, regular posts will continue later. But, this was just too funny not to share.
This is one for the records, we got snow twice in 2 years!
Okay, for all of you who live up North and are currently under feet of snow, I know this isn’t a big deal. But for those of us down here in Texas, this is HUGE!
So huge I felt the need to videotape Batman playing in it and telling me in his very excited voice about it. I am sparing you the video of the dog running in the snow and more excited observations. But, I have grandparents that read this, and they NEED to see this.
I may be exaggerating a little.

Batman was my most eager snow participant. Princess was outside briefly, but declared it “cold, cold, cold, cold,” and that’s all I heard from her before she disappeared back indoors next to the fire.
A girl after my own heart. But, Batman provided quite the commentary for me.
This is their “soup” (top left). Really, it’s a plastic tub that they’ve been dumping rocks, dirt, random stuff in for the last year or so. Sometimes it’s poison, sometimes they are going to feed it to the birds. It all depends on the game for that day.
Batman told me it looks “yucky,” and we can’t eat it right now.
Good to know. I wasn’t planning on it.
Mac thought the snow was awesome, and he looked so cute running around in it. He did not disappear in the snow, like the dog in the story we read did. But, Mac’s not white.
Or, so I was told.
Considering how infrequent snow is here I think I was downright restrained in my picture taking.
Unlike last year or the time we had “snow.” No really if you look very, VERY closely in the pictures with snow in quotations, you can see snow. Honest.
I’ve been invited to a birthday party every day this week, February 9

And that was the other guests. Well, the two that weren’t sitting on my lap.
Here’s the guest of honor. Bolt. One of many. Since I wrote that post, I think she’s added two more to her Bolt collection, and she’s angling to get one from the Disney store that looks like the Bolt from the movie.
Princess very carefully gathered all of the guests.
She made the cake. Now I know why there is all that trash on the floor. Her “kids” have been eating a lot of cake.
Had everyone close their eyes while the presents were brought in.
And made sure everyone had enough cake (which was then stored in a drawer, I’m learning all of her hiding places).
Right after Bolt’s party was done, the boys had to have a party for their toys. The main difference with their party (which I sadly got no pictures of) was that everyone got party favors, and the presents were collected on a pirate ship.
There are times it’s good to take a break from your schedule and just play.
Do your kids ever do this? March 28

Yes that is Princess locking herself in the dog crate.
And then Batman proudly posing next to her like the proud Big Game Hunter.
Uh oh, the door is locked, May 9

That would be what I said after checking the door to look in on Princess, who was sent to time out for being way too worked up. She’d gotten quiet, and we thought she’d fallen asleep.
After spending ten to fifteen minutes using various implements (bobby pins did not work, nor did tooth picks), Jeff went over to try, and he pushed on the door, and it came open. While it was closed, the door was not latched.
Oops.
And we went in, and Princess was quite asleep. She tried her best to sleep through being picked up and put in the car, and the first few holes of mini golf. Which I apparently suck at.
There was much fun, frivolity, and goofy poses to be had.
And Uncle Sean had a blast climbing up the dragon…… He was quite proud of himself. Very proud. Luckily, the boys weren’t big enough to try and climb it themselves. Otherwise, we might have had a repeat of our trip two years ago with another ER trip……. But, at least Galveston does have one of the best ERs we’ve seen.
So, Summer bucket list mini golf, check. And I’m sure we’ll do this at least one more time because the kids said they want to go to the other side of the golf course with the fish and the turtle……
Well at least he’s learning his science lessons, May 11

This is Superman’s shoe. It’s the ant hill. I saw him put the little plastic ants in the ant hill and talk all about it. I heard him say the ants were working on bringing food to the ant hill for the other ants.
I just didn’t put it together soon enough…….
Yes, that would be my son’s shoe filled up with mini hot dogs and cheese torn into little bitty ant sized bites. Or what he thinks are ant sized bites.
Can we all say EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
What is needed to sleep in my bed according to Batman, June 9

Batman got into trouble for talking too much to his brother last week. So we sent him down to our room to fall asleep. Here’s what I found on my bed when we came to get him out:
- Hungry hungry hippo,
- jumping ring for toy ponies;
- lead Batman figure
- bag of rocks in fancy bag;
- science textbook
- book of sticky note airplanes you know for the paper you don’t have,
- dog
- mini-foosball game
I’m surprised that was all.
I’ve got a new little brother in Christ, July 15
Last night at the Backyard Bible Club in my neighborhood Superman prayed to Jesus and asked Him to come into his heart. As you can imagine Jeff and I are very excited about this.
It was an interesting conflux of events. He’d asked the teens some questions earlier in the week, but hadn’t been ready to pray then, saying “He wanted to think about it.”
Last night she followed up with him asking him what he was thinking and if he wanted to pray with her. He did, and so they did.
I feel fairly safe in saying this is a genuine conversion from both his ability to explain it, and his willingness to tell other people about it. He told her, my Mom, a couple of other people, and then his grandparents on the phone. I could still be wrong and it could be an example of him knowing the right answers, but it doesn’t feel that way.
He’s been carrying the Bible he got from them around ever since.
The bad part came when his brother and sister saw he got a Bible and they didn’t. Oh the tears, the tears. It was only alleviated by our giving them Bibles……. Which luckily we have a few dozen on hand.
