In case you can’t tell ancient history is one of my favorite time periods. I find the ideas and activities you can do with this time fascinating, the history, the people, the mythology. My bookshelves quite agree from the numerous books gracing them.
Ancient Egypt is one of my favorites, I find the insanity of Egyptian mythology interesting, and trying to piece it together over a period of a thousand years is a fun challenge. I asked everyone to particularly link up any posts ya’ll had for Ancient Egypt, so here’s what you shared with me.
Ancient Egypt activities for preschool
Even younger kids like to get in on the learning fun, so here’s some fun activities and posts shared that would be great to do particularly with preschoolers.
Ancient Egypt printable pack
Ancient Egypt party
Ancient Egypt activities about mummies
Let’s face it we are all fascinated by the idea of mummies, and a little bit scared, so here’s a few fun ways to learn about mummies.
Make an Egyptian cartouche and burial mask
How to make a fruity Pharaoh mummy
Ancient Egypt Miscellaneous
These were the fun activities that just didn’t quite fit into a category, they’re not strictly crafts, but they’re certainly great to do.
Ancient Egypt field trips
There are many traveling exhibits about Egypt, a few years ago a semi-local museum had a real mummy on display that was fascinating to see.
Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City
Ancient Egypt crafts
In my book any lesson that has a craft is an instant winner, especially for my kids, the messier the better. So, here’s a few crafts.
Make an Egyptian Reed boat and learn about the Nile River
Make your own Senet board game
Ancient Egypt books
And what’s a unit study without a few books, I’m gonna first point you over to Afterschooling for Smarty Pants who’s got a great list, and then…..

Now, your turn. What have you been doing in your homeschool or afterschool for history or geography? I’ve already started another round up for the links last week that weren’t Ancient Egypt activities, this week I’m thinking Ancient Greece, we’re about to dive into that, and I want some ideas. So what do you have?

Hmm I have that awesome post about Pete the Cat visiting Turkey, but nothing on Greece – yet!
Really, I’m surprised you don’t have anything yet.
I’m too late, but we I just linked up the Senet game I made from a dollar tree chess game for our Egyptian study (which we just started). I will be looking into many of these links to see what I can steal.. erm… be inspired by. 😉
Thank you!!
I’ll try and add it in later, I need to fix another post I linked to, so I’ll add yours in.
Great post, Ticia, and thanks for featuring me, but both links appear to be broken 🙁
Okay, thanks for letting me know, they should be all fixed now. I had the same problem with another link, and I have NO CLUE why.
Great list! I shall look forward to using it when I cover the Egyptians with my younger two.
I have some great Ancient Egypt books you should check out. If you go to my post on geography books, scroll down to Africa and then Egypt, they’re listed. Nearly all of the books listed are about Ancient Egypt (with maybe 1-2 exceptions). https://homeschooladventures3.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/geography-book-list-by-country.html
I’ve posted a geography unit on Greece, but it’s not about Ancient Greece alone. I may link it next week. Anyway, I found a few links with some fun Ancient Greek craft projects. Both involve Greek pottery: https://www.activityvillage.co.uk/make-a-greek-vase and https://www.dltk-kids.com/World/greece/m-pottery.htm
This is amazing. I love your site and your ideas. So glad I found you! Thanks to Poppins Book Nook!
