This past week our kids attended Kids Clubs. What’s that you ask? I’m glad you did, that’s our church’s version of VBS, a week long Sunday School class. And I in all of my wisdom volunteered to be in charge of the food for our site for the week, but it ended up being a good opportunity for family discipleship as my kids helped me out and learned what it is like to serve others.
So my dining room table looked like this for the week, but it all helped with teaching kids to serve others
And my van looked like this. It’s food for approximately 200 people. We sliced a lot of oranges, and served a lot of cookies.
Yes, that is 30 pizzas in my car, and we had NO leftovers.
Everyone pitched in to help. They carried pizzas, they handed out food, they helped carry bags of ice and carry gallons of water.
God answered one of our biggest prayers.
We got a cool front. The first day the weather was 100 something, and then it rained that night. After that it was at least 10-5 degrees cooler. I don’t think we broke 100 for the rest of the week.
In the end, all of the exhaustion, frayed tempers, spilled gravy was worth it. I think the hardest part of it all isn’t to be a Martha in a Mary situation.
Now head on over to Fantastic Five to see some other great ideas for living out your faith!
It sounds like the week was very successful. That is a lot of food!
We do backyard Bible clubs…all around the area, not just one… AND VBS at our church. 🙂
Looks like a great time!
Whew, thats a lot of pizzas!
Just think of all the memories those kiddos will have and more of the Word was hidden in their heart!

That looks like a lot of fun (and hard work). I am sure your kids won't forget it for quite some time.
I cannot imagine feeding 200 people – you are a true super woman. Sounds like a fun though exhausting week!
Sounds like a fun – and very work-intensive – week! 200 people is a LOT, and I love that the Texas version of a cold front is not breaking 100 degrees!
OK, so whenever my family visits your family in Texas, we really need to come for a church visit too- y'all got some awesome stuff going on there, lady!
