Bluebonnets 2016

So, this is one of those posts that I fully admit most of you could really care less about, but it’s also one that I love a lot, because it lets me see how my kids are growing and changing each year.

Here in Texas we have a tradition of bluebonnet pictures in the spring.  This spring the bluebonnets were particularly glorious because of all the rains we had this fall, and it continued to be a rainy spring.

The kids and I went out a couple of different times.  One was fairly spur of the moment (the pictures up above), and they were the most tolerant here because I just let them be them, they picked the poses, they wore clothes they liked.  They picked the props, so Batman had his brand new toy musket.  Superman had a beard from our Bible costume, and Princess has a toy zebra, along with a crocheted basket I bought.

And then we went out with Tara while she was down here.  The kids were still rather tolerant because I let them each pick a spot, and some poses.  So we have the moose ears pose, and the tackle Aunt Tara pose.  It was lots of silliness.

This also means it’s time to update my about page with new pictures.  I particularly like this year’s picture, because it so captures their personalities.  Superman is my class clown, and he’s proud of it.  You can see he’s goofy in this grin.  I almost chose the picture of him with the giant beard, because it was so him, but I wanted a picture you can see his face.

I love Batman’s picture, it captures the serious side of him that we see so often.  He wears a baseball cap all the time now, and recently he told me why, “It’s so people call tell the difference between me and Superman.  I wanted to make it easier on them.”  Well he does most of the time, sometimes he thinks it’s hilarious to try and trick Mimi (my Mom).

And this picture is just so perfect for Princess, she’s having fun “talking with her dolly,” she likes to do that.  She also likes to go out in the backyard and talk to the plants as she swings.  She says it helps her think.  She’s wearing her dolphin necklace, you can’t really tell, but I can because I recognize it.  She very carefully saved her money the last time we went to Sherwood Forest and bought it there.  Of course I’m pretty sure the zebra is from the Waco zoo when we went there (for those who are curious, I did yet another variation on the twirly dress pattern with this tutorial).

I never got a good picture of the whole family all looking at the camera, but I did find this one quite amusing.

You know what the other great tragedy is?  I never got a solo picture of me, so I’m trying to decide which of these two to put in the about page for me.  What do you think?
