Dr Seuss birthday party
I can’t really claim the credit for this Dr Seuss birthday party, as a matter of fact, I provided a couple of suggestions, but I didn’t make this awesome party. My friend did, but she doesn’t really blog, so she gave me the OK to share this. I also love that you can easily make this a baby shower party, and it’s so incredibly easy to change for that because all of the decorations can become presents for baby.
Oh, and the awesome thing about this party? My friend is a total health nut, so nothing is processed, dyed or anything crazy like that. She even made green eggs without dyes.

Let’s start with decorations for the Dr Seuss Birthday party
Decoration is simple, lots and lots of books and stuffed animals. At the time this party was created, Kohls had Dr Seuss as its Kohls Cares for Kids toys, and so you could get official branded Dr Seuss toys for $5. That won’t be possible, so I’m going to share both official and maybe a few similar.
But that’s dropping around $100 on decorations. Admittedly they are decorations you get to keep, so that’s not as bad, so let’s see what will evoke without breaking the bank.
- Cat in the Hat hat– you might find less expensive at a local party store, but this was the lowest price I found
- Elephant toy– there were several toys similar to this that look Dr Seuss inspired, so get the elephant, hippo, monkey, and koala for similar look
- Fish toys– some of these look similar to Dr Seuss illustrations
Then get some Dr Seuss books and scatter them about. If you look at the shelf, they’re just scattered about the shelf and all throughout.
Dr. Seuss party food
We did not have snacks, I’m sure there are loads of parties that have snacks, but we had a sit-down meal.
The table decorations are also simple. Bright primary colors for the cups, plates, and napkins. You could even get disposable bright-colored silverware (this set has it all together, but you could probably buy all of this at the dollar store), but we used real ones.
A teapot in the middle filled with flowers provides the perfect touch of whimsy.
And the food? Green eggs and ham, cinnamon rolls, homemade toast, and pineapple.
How did she make the eggs without dyes?
She blended spinach and eggs together until it made a nice puree and then fried them up in the pan. It’s quite an impressive green color and didn’t really change the taste (or so I’m told, I’m not a big fan of eggs). My kids ate all of theirs though.
Actually, there was nothing left over. Seven kids can eat quite a lot of food.
Dr Seuss party games
Now for this party we didn’t have any activities, it was more an informal party (with decorations) before co-op that day. But I have a friend, and she’s got a Dr. Seuss bingo that would be perfect for this. I’ve learned from my daughter’s AHG troop, bingo is insanely popular with young kids.
And the party favors?
More books. Each guest at the party got their own Dr Seuss book (picked up at Half Price Books). They’re super cute mini books, and the birthday girl wrote a personal note to each kid.
Oh, and you can see the “cake” in the picture up above. We had cake pops, covered in all sorts of natural yummy goodness.
FYI, those are the same cake pops that were allegedly stolen in our news lesson from Monday.

What a fun party!! I love the idea of the green eggs just for everyday eating too! I am also not a huge egg fan either.. I like them hard boiled but not really any other way.
Looks like she did a great job!!
Sounds like a wonderful party with much better party favors than usual plastic fare.
