You are chosen Bible verses
Right now I’m working with Junior High kids at church. Specifically 8th-grade girls. Talking to them is an eye-opener. They talk about the girl in their class who is pregnant, and the kid they knew who is cutting because they can’t deal with the stress, or their friend who’s being bullied because they don’t have the right haircut/clothes/look right now. Sometimes, they admit they struggle with these same issues. That’s usually done after weeks of silly conversations and even then, it’s hidden in the middle of jokes. We’ve been talking about self-image for the past month, and last week we all brainstormed together encouraging Bible verses for when they feel alone or worried, it was an awesome Bible lesson that they created.
After they gave me all of these encouraging Bible verses, I wanted to come up with a way to share them, and finally, I came up with these encouraging Bible verses hearts. I love these little hearts, and they’re perfect to share around Valentine’s Day.

Encouraging Bible verses
As the speaker taught last week she gave us a pile of Bible verses. These verses focused on who we were in Christ and how God made us and chose us. It was an amazing list, and I only had a few in that venue to add in.
As I talked with the girls about what they struggled with to come up with our Bible verses for hard times, it wasn’t what I was expecting. I expected to hear, their looks, or things like that.
No, one girl struggled with worry. She worried about all manner of things. Things that never even occurred to me to worry about. She told me about reminding herself to give her fears to God. Cast your cares upon Him.
Another struggled with fear. She told me she loved the verse that said “God did not give us a spirit of fear.” She didn’t have the verse memorized word for word, but she sure knew what it said.
Another shared about encouraging a friend, and how that friend needed to hear she was chosen by God. “You are a Chosen Priesthood.”
Another talked about how encouraged she was to read Psalm 23 and know God was always there with her.
Slowly I was collecting the words God used to encourage them. The encouraging Bible verses they turned to when they were struggling.
Side point for some more Bible verses
I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to memorizing Bible verses, and there is a whole slew of Bible lists to help you remember just who you are in Christ.
I turned them into a Valentine, an encouraging Bible verses Valentine
I took the list of verses home and looked them all up. It was an impressive list of encouraging Bible verses. I headed over to Picmonkey and picked out my favorite heart designs on there, and started copying Bible verses over.
Sometimes I had to cut the passages they mentioned shorter. Unless I wanted to make giant hearts, I was not going to be able to fit all of Psalm 23 onto a heart. At least not at the size anyone could read it at.
Then I fiddled and tweaked until the encouraging Bible verses looked just right. I popped over to Microsoft Word, and filled them into a table, and designed a little envelope to put them in.
Today, I’m printing off about 12 of these for all of the 8th-grade girls. I’m going to give them a small envelope with all those verses they told me about.
Then I’ll cut them out. I’m quite thankful for my handy dandy paper cutter to do this quickly.
And I’ll glue the envelope together. I’m still trying to decide if I’ll write anything on them. That may or may not take away from the point.

Wow, it’s fascinating to get such an insight into the inner lives of many girls. It does put our own struggles in perspective. These V-Day cards are a great idea.
