February 2022 week in review
All right, February is slowing down just a little bit from January, and I got started writing this on February 15. I feel so organized.

February week 1
I think that top picture is actually from the end of January, because that’s The Artist’s birthday party, and I think that was in January, right at the end.
Then we have two pictures of Leezard, first she’s attempting to get into the box, and it just looked like she was in there, and it amuses me. She also loves to lay next to the fire, and that particular picture is right after she took one of her toys and shoved it right next to the fire, and kept trying to shove her toy closer and closer like she was trying to cook it.
Right in the middle is a picture of when the kids all decided to sit in my spot on the couch, so I came and sat on them and then when I went to get a picture Superman stole my phone and took so many pictures, it’s probably 40 pictures of that. It’s kind of funny. Then I got a picture of the kids randomly all acting like they like each other (which they do) as they sit next to a fire.
The bottom picture is banana fritters, that I’ve been trying to make from Cameroon, which we learned about back in January, but it took that long for me to have the bananas without the kids eating them all before I could make the fritters. They turned out okay, but it was super greasy, so I did something wrong.
And finally, we had D-Now weekend, and my group painted a bedroom for a single mom. That was a whole adventure in and of itself.
I didn’t know I was in charge of the project, so I got there and had to go to her neighbor to get the key to get in because she was out of town, and then we had to find the right bedroom, and move all of the furniture out of the room. Then we left the work site because we needed a ladder to complete the work and grabbed one from my house before coming back. At which point we had to chase the house’s cat because it escaped outside, and it was generally a crazy day, but at the end of the day the room was as painted as you could get it when it was dark gray and we were painting white over it.
Week 2
For whatever reason the kids decided to all sit with Leezard and I managed to actually get a picture of them all getting along.
Random shot of Superman working on his MyTek.
We cooked a few more country meals, the picture on the left are pasteles from Cabo Verde. We all agreed we really liked the dough, but the fillings wasn’t our favorite (and I totally punted on this because it was supposed to be a fish filling, but I didn’t think I’d be able to cook the fish properly and make it into a filling).
And the bottom right is Indonesian fried rice, which we all agreed was a decent meal.
Week 3
This was a week of cooking many different geography meals. At the top you can see where I had a chicken broth jar break while defrosting it, which is an ever so big problem as we needed several jars of broth for that particular meal.
Then at the bottom, I made the Georgian game hens meal months ago, but I never took pictures, so I made it again, and it turned out better than the last time I made it. The garlic flavor was so very evident.
That top middle picture is the several times I take a picture to get my kids to put stuff away.
I spent the week attempting to get a bit more organization, and one aspect of that was clearing through our old monthly notebooks, recycling the vast majority of the papers, and keeping their history notes to put into their UBER-history notebook.
Then I printed off extra copies of the Don’t Eat That Fruit game and Don’t Lose Your Temper game for another project, and I’m going to give them to my church to use for AWANA.
And then finally, it was the AHG talent show tonight, February 21. This time our skit was Les Miserables in 5 minutes, and we needed “disguises,” which in this case was a mustache drawn on the finger, because clearly if you stick a mustache on, no one will ever recognize you.
Week 4
I finished up the Power On book club that I was leading, and since I no longer was worrying about knowing spoilers, I went ahead and read the sequel, and then bought the parallel series and the silly spin-off, and I may have read about 7 books in a week, more or less.
The boys had their black belt tests for Kung Fu on Wednesday and successfully obtained their level 3 black belt, they are incredibly proud of this. and for good reason.
Leezard has upped her begging game, and was trying her very best to convince Superman that she super needed the food he was snacking on at the moment.
Saturday was supposed to be the boys’ Kung Fu demo team at the farmer’s market, but it was cancelled by suspected rain, which didn’t even happen, much to their frustration, but it was also super cold, so I’m glad they didn’t have it.
Instead, we more or less finished the Seafall Legacy game, and we kind of cheated our way to be done with the game because Jeff and I were super done with the game as it wasn’t the most interesting game to play all the time. Superman looked up more on how to find those final statues and we started reading the game ending. The boys are very excited to try it with the two of them as they fight the forces of hell, yep you read that right, after you find the final island you’re fighting hell somehow or other.
Then we watched The Zookeeper’s Wife as Batman had read it for his January book, the other two aren’t doing the English assignments for me since they’re taking a college English class. I both like the movie and don’t like the movie because it’s rather hard to watch emotionally.
All right, that’s our February! YAY! Two months done for 2022, another year is FLYING by.

I forgot I had The Zookeeper’s Wife on my to watch list. I still need to see it. I’m curious if Batman says it follows the book plot closely or if they took more artistic license with the movie.
