Homeschool Easter lessons
As you’ve no doubt noticed this year I’m working through gathering holiday lessons all in one place to make things easier for you to navigate and find things on here. Easter is coming up much faster than I’m ready for, even if it is later this year, and I’m hoping to get ahead of the game and get our Easter lessons organized.
Because Easter has two different ways it is celebrated, I’ve chosen to break it down into the secular and the religious aspects. I don’t really break my life down into those aspects, but for organizational purposes, it really makes everyone else’s life easier if I do it this way.
So, if you want the religious Easter lessons check out my Bible Easter landing page. It has several different lessons to teach your kids about the meaning of Easter, crafts, Bible studies, and some book or DVD suggestions.
Easter crafts
Okay, really it should be craft, because apparently I did like one non-religious Easter craft. Or only one that is worth highlighting. All of the Easter crafts I have ended up looking like a big muddy mess when my kids were in preschool. They were big fans of mixing until it was a big brown mess.
Jan Brett’s “The Easter Egg”– They were so little when we did this.
Easter lessons
When springtime hits we start to think of chicks, lambs, and flowers growing. Somehow all of that has conflated together to create the Easter holiday we have now.
Easter in Latvia– One of my friends from church is from Latvia, so she taught us about Latvian Easter traditions, which was really cool to learn about.
How to make an egg float– Also known as, how to drive Mom crazy.
Experimenting with eggs– A great sensory lesson for preschool.
How to protect an egg– we tried two different variations on this way back in preschool, one was an egg drop experiment, the other was a car crash. Both were popular.
Like I said, I don’t have lots of posts on Easter, I need to fix this before too long because there are many great lessons to do in the elementary years for Easter.
Easter books
Easter Mice!– I like the Mice holiday books, they’re simple, to the point, and great for preschool and Early elementary
Rechenka’s Eggs– Patricia Polacco is another author I love her books, she always puts such depth into her characters and this book is no less true.
The Berenstain Bears and the Real Easter Eggs– my boys received this book for a birthday present a few years ago, and like most Berenstain Bear books it’s predictable but fun.
The Easter Egg– like all Jan Brett books this is just as much about the pictures as the story. There are so many fun details to look at.
Do you have any favorite Easter books I missed?

You’re right, Easter does seem to be coming up fast! For early elementary age, I also like “Happy Easter, Little Critter” by Mercer Mayer.
Oh, I don’t think we had that one. We had a LOT of Little Critter books for a while.
It’s nice to have your holiday posts all together in one spot. I keep putting it off for each of our countries – there’s just so many to organize!
You do have so many for each of your countries. Maybe do a bunch of sub-posts on a country and then one big master one?
Next year will be different…next year will be different….
That’s my yearly mantra on preparing fun things for Easter. I usually manage an egg hunt but sadly that’s about it.
Next year WILL be different!I know, most of these fun things were done a few years ago. This year was caught up in sick kids and visiting family.
Happy Easter!
