An online friend of mine has been raving about these dolls for her daughter, and I just had to see what she was talking about with these “Lottie Dolls,” what are they?
So, when she asked if anyone else would want to see them, I thought, “Of course I do!”
{Disclosure: I was given some dolls for my daughter to play with, and she has happily disappeared with them to play with, I was not paid, and this did not affect my opinion, oh and there’s affiliate links}
As I looked through their website I was impressed with the wide variety of dolls they already had. I found at least 5 I knew Princess would love, but picked out only two to get.
I received the Lottie Snow Queen, Lottie in Autumn Leaves
, and Biscuit the Beagle
{affiliate links}. Aren’t they adorable?
What I like about Lottie Dolls
She stands on her own two feet. This may seem like a silly thing to notice, but it sure makes playing with her easier, because she doesn’t fall over. I want my daughter to stand on her own two feet when she grows up, so it can be a nice subtle lesson.
- I love that she looks like a little girl. And not just that, a little girl my daughter could be friends with. She dresses like a little girl.
- She has a belly button. This is silly, but I thought it was a great detail to add in. (And side note that the Snow Queen Lottie has UNDERWEAR!).
- So many little accessories. It makes the little girl fond of small things in me so very happy.
- All the layers of clothes she has. You can fiddle with the clothes that come with just one doll for quite a while figuring out just the right configuration.
As a random side note, she has a crinoline! For most of you non-history buffs that may not be a big deal, but for me that was a pretty cool discovery.
Thoughts on Lottie Doll construction
These are notes that won’t mean much to some of you, but these are things I noticed because I sew, and think about some of these details on the clothes.
- They chose the right kind of velcro for the dolls. It’s the newer more expensive soft velcro. I can’t find it to buy it in stores, if I want to use that I order in ridiculously large amounts online.
- They made certain elements interhchangeable. The little dog decal on the shirt comes off, and from looking at the other dolls they also have velcro to switch it around. That is a nice little detail.
- The petticoat is separate from the dress. That’s a nice accurate detail that most dolls don’t have. And it’s a real crinoline. Did I mention that?
- Non-sewn elements, her hair is nice and soft, and not prone to tangling. Why aren’t all dolls like this?
- Another non-sewn element, great range of movement on the doll without being overly articulated or strange looking.
What was Princess’ reaction to our Lottie Doll?
She loved it!
We opened some early Christmas present with various people, and I arranged for her Lottie doll to be the one she opened. What do you think of her first review? It was pretty good, I thought.
I like that she’s already planning on her own name for the doll. I’ve got the second one secreted away, and you can bet you’re going to see lots of pictures of her soon. I forsee our Lottie doll on stuffed My Little Ponies, and wild adventures all around our house.
Minor Complaints about Lottie Doll
It never seems a balanced review if there’s not a few negatives, and here are my three complaints I found:
- On the Autumn Doll, the tights are a little hard to get off. I don’t see this as a big problem, because I’d rather the tights stay on, so that’s not a big thing. So, not a big deal to me.
- Because this is a relatively new line, there’s not a lot of outfits options. I’d love if some of the outfits you can get on a doll could be bought as separate outfits. I would love to get the Pirate Queen Lottie Doll
, or Lottie in English Country Garden
as just outfits. Okay if I’m honest, I want all of those outfits, I actually picked only two, but I had about 5 more on my I REALLY want this one list.
- There doesn’t appear to be an Asian doll skin tone yet. I saw most of the major ethnicities represented there, but there wasn’t a clear Asian one. Butterfly Protector Lottie Doll
could be interpreted as Asian but I thought she looked Hispanic.

They’re available at Amazon (which my links in this post have been to there). You can also buy them from the Lottie Doll site (great option if you’re in the UK).

These are adorable (glad I saw the giveaway)! My girls would love the snow queen! I thin the Pandora’s Box one is pretty cute too!
I love all of them! I am so excited about this doll line. I think though that my daughter would choose the Spring ballerina Lottie doll. She also has a birthday coming up in February. 🙂
These look adorable! My youngest loves dolls and these look like so much fun.
Butterfly Protector Lottie! 🙂
I am so glad you enjoyed the dolls!!! 🙂 Wonderful review! It’s funny though because I did not like the fact that the little decals are Velcro. My three year old keeps losing hers so I am contemplating stitching on her pirate patch so it stays there.
And I agree- I would love to see the outfits sold individually.
I make doll clothes for my kids, and I often add that feature in because it lets them change around how they’re playing with it. So they can change what hero they’re pretending to be, or change the secret power the doll has.
My daughter loves the Robot Girl doll!
Oh, these are adorable! I’m so happy to see more dolls that look like little girls! I think Autumn Leaves Lottie is super cute.
When I opened the box you were one of the people I thought of who would love these.
Thanks for the great review and giveaway! I’ve been wanting very much to get a Lottie doll for my little girl! The Pirate Queen is definitely our favorite!
I like a bunch!!!! English garden a nd Autumn Leaves are high on my list though.
I know that was my problem, there are so many cute ones!
I like the price, too, for the quality. I think they’ll be on our wish list next year! (Really, I would love to have two for this year, but I just can’t extend the Christmas budget…)
You make me wish I had a little girl again.
I feel that way when I see some of the cute little outfits my sister-in-law is getting with her new baby. There’s a part of me that wants a baby again, and then there’s that other part that remembers how much time babies take.
It’s hard to pick. Pandora’s Box or Snow Queen.
They look like good dolls. I have not allowed my daughter to have Barbies or Disney princess dolls, but I would let her have these.
Can we vote for more than one? Butterfly Protector, Lighthouse Keeper, Snow Queen, Autumn Leaves, Spring Ballet, English Country Garden.
We love the Lighthouse Keeper Lottie Doll
Too bad I missed the giveaway – I think Smarty would love a doll like that. I love that it stands too. Sadly, the video seems to have sound problems – I had my laptop volume up all the way, and it’s still was too quiet 🙁 Thanks for writing about those dolls, I might consider them for an Easter present.
