Making Nativity Peg Dolls part 2

December 20, 2012 Ticia 7 Comments

Yesterday I showed you how we painted our peg dolls for the Nativity.  Today I’m going to show you how to add details.

The secret: dots.  Velcro dots and glue dots.

With glue dots you can add to your Nativity peg dolls:

nativity peg doll nativity angel wings

Lace angel wings.

nativity peg doll nativity turban

1/4” wide 12 inch strip of cloth to make a turban (very messily applied)

nativity peg doll nativity shepherd

head scarf to protect from the sun.  Cut a pipe cleaner down and it becomes quite a nice little headdress.

When you add velcro dots to your Nativity peg dolls, your person can hold:

nativity peg doll nativity holding stuff

a bottle to drink

Nativity peg dolls holding shepherd

a pipe cleaner staff and a fun foam jug

And when they’re all put together, you can populate your Nativity peg dolls town.

The wise men can come visit Jesus with gifts.

The shepherds can watch over their sheep

And you can play with them.  A lot, several hours for several days.

Come back tomorrow to see how we made the stable, and the manger for baby Jesus to sleep in.  Or check out the rest of our Advent posts.

Adding glue dots and velcro dots is a touch of genius. It’s neat that kids really played with their small world – this is when having several really helps!

I never would have thought to add glue dots and velcro. Brilliant!
