Middle Ages Unit Study

April 30, 2015 Ticia 11 Comments

You all know I like my hands on learning, especially in our history lessons, and I frequently spend a long time getting together materials and coming up with ideas for our projects.  This time for our middle ages unit study I won’t have to.

Hands on Middle Ages Unit Study

My plan this summer is to have a light school schedule (one hour a day), mainly to keep the kids from driving me crazy.

It’s over 300 pages of awesomeness with the Time Capsule England, with another couple hundred pages of supplementary materials.

Projects I’m excited to do for the Middle Ages Unit Study

How to take pictures.  Princess has decided she wants to start a blog, and has taken lots of pictures recently.

Pictures that look like this.  I’m deleting them by the dozens.

Made for Trade history game

Medieval Games (that picture is obviously not one of them, but it was a convenient picture), I always find games interesting to see how they’ve changed from then to now.

Recipes, because that won’t go horribly wrong at all.

Roman fresco

Making a waddle and daub wall.  That looks really interesting and I hadn’t even thought of trying it.

icon art history

Studying artwork.  I loved doing that in my history classes in high school, and we’ve barely touched on it so far with my kids.

clouds unit

There’s another cloud in a bottle experiment.  Maybe this one will work for us.

I’d wait and tell you about it when we were doing it, but I figure some of you are in the middle of studying middle ages right now, and might want to know about it too.

Buying Middle Ages Unit Study

You can buy the entire thing over at Time Capsule England (there’s a sample to try out if you’re curious) or buy a print copy on Amazon: Time Capsule: Medieval England: You Are There (Volume 1).

Sounds like a fun summer! Emma also wants to start a blog. She comes up with some pretty hilarious blog names.

Mine has never gotten as far as coming up with names. I’ve told her she has to learn to type first.

Someday a recipe will go right for me that I’m intending to post on the blog. It’ll probably be the same day Jesus returns again, because I’m sure that’s a sign of the apocalypse.
