Of memories and weddings

This Sunday I went to a wedding from one of my old college roommates.

She joined the ranks of others of us in marrying an older man.  It was a gorgeous wedding.

Danette ceremony

It was fun to see a wedding from a different cultural experience than I’m used to.  My friend Danette is Hispanic AND goes to a Seventh Day Adventist church, so there were a few differences in their ceremony that were fun to see, and I learned all sorts of fun things.

It was a gorgeous wedding.  They were so incredibly happy, you could see it oozing out of them.

Princess spent the entire ceremony leaning over the edge of the pew trying to get a better view.  It was quite adorable.  She also couldn’t wait to see the kiss at the end of the ceremony, over and over again she said, “When do they kiss?”  Her happy sigh at the end was fun to hear.  I think Jeff is going to need to invest in some big guns when Princess gets older……..

kids at the wedding

After the ceremony the kids had fun playing with my friend’s kids.  They blew bubbles, danced, and generally had fun.  It was cute to see Princess teaching Little R how to curtsy.

Princess tried her hardest to catch the bouquet, but she just couldn’t catch it.  But, she was able to get some flowers from the centerpiece and that made up for it.

The high point for me was getting to spend several hours with my college friends.  I just realized that all of them were my college roommates at one time or another.  It was a lot of fun to see all of them, and I really need to work on getting together with them more often.  Of course it’s a slight challenge since 2 of them live in different states (Colorado and California).

My Mom enjoyed seeing Danette again too.  Danette used to come to my house all the time when we were in college staying there for the weekend from time to time.

All in all, it was a fun wedding.

Do you keep up with any of your college friends?  Amusingly enough my closest friends in my day to day life are actually all from my church youth group in high school.

Stay tuned, tomorrow I’m going to have a post about Legoland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I don’t know who was more excited to go, me or the kids………..

  1. It looked like such a fun day. If it is for you anything like it is for me, it is the brothers that will be the most overprotective. At this rate, Katie will never get married. 🙂

    1. I think that would make Jeff perfectly happy. mostly.
I”m guessing your husband doesn’t mind at all if she doesn’t date too much 🙂

  2. So I date myself, but I graduated from college more than 20 years ago 🙂 I still keep in touch with my closest friend who now lives in New Jersey. It looks like a wonderful wedding, and I love Princess’ blue dress.

    1. Thanks! It’s one of her favorites.

What a wonderful wedding – and how fun that Princess was so into it!

    1. It was almost as much fun to watch her as the wedding.
