Oh binding machine how I love thee

March 18, 2011 Ticia 14 Comments

Let me count the ways………… I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of being and ideal grace. Okay, maybe not quite like that…

Oh binding machine how I love you

Seriously, I love my binding machine {affiliate link}.  There are so many ways I use it.  Our geography notebooks are bound using this.

I bind so many different little books with it. I bind monthly notebooks, history notebooks, timeline notebooks, my housekeeping notebook, my calendar.

When I got it my Mom said, “Ticia, why do you need a binding machine?  You can just use the one we have up here.”

Yes, well then I’d have to keep 3 hyper little guys in the church office workroom as I put books together.  That doesn’t sound fun.

Now, I can make them whenever I want.  Which is often.

My binding machine is AWESOME!  (and to truly get the impact of that AWESOME imagine a high pitched sing song voice holding that out)

A bit of seriousness from Future Ticia 2023 and the benefits of binding machines

While all the new very silly and very badly photo-shopped pictures are not in the least bit silly, I am 100% serious when I say I used my binding machine ALL THE TIME as I homeschooled my kids.

As you look at my blog you will see pictures of their notebooks all throughout in many different subjects.

If you don’t want to personally have a binding machine (though I can promise you, I used mine all the time), look into your homeschool co-op getting one, or somewhere you can use one, because they are life-changing.

Also, as a side note, it was surprisingly hard to find pictures I wanted to use when I searched up “couple in love,” just a lot of the poses were not the poses I needed. I needed couples gazing lovingly at each other, but there were a lot of side-by-side or him standing behind her as he hugged her. Oh well, I eventually found some good pictures.

Getting back to my serious discussion of the importance of binding machines, let me point you to a couple of helpful resources from earlier:

  • Organizing notebooks
  • Geography notebooks: United States, Noth America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa
  • Creating monthly notebooks

    Very cool!

We have a laminator. I love it. Since I don't actually homeschool, I wasn't sure if it would be worth the investment. ($25) However, in about 2 years I have used 50 sheets. I love it!

lol I would love one of these, but I don't think Mike would be very amused. Maybe I'll learn how to stitch books together =)

I have a confession to make. We have a binding machine, a laminator and a lot of other gadgets. But they all belong to my husband, and I have no idea how to use them. I just recently learned how to cut prettily on his industrial strength paper cutter.

I would LOVE to have one of these. And a laminator also. I would probably try to laminate the whole house. Hey, easy cleaning!

I don't have a place to keep larger items like that though. Oh well.

Okay, I have heard enough good things about them that I put one on my wish list at Amazon. I never would have thought I would use one, but too many that I admire love them.

Sounds like fun. I have a laminator and I love that, but a binding machine would be really cool. I'm already thinking of books to make!

When I was a teacher (in the classroom) I used a binding machine ALL the time for everything. I never even thought of owning one, but I'd LOVE to.

I have a binding machine too but it's an older one that is monsterous and heavy so I don't get it out much. You've inspired me to pull it out & put the silly thing to good use!

Does yours use the continuous spiral binding or the kind that has a seem? Mine has a seem. I'd rather have the continuous spiral, but I'll take what I can get!

I absolutey dream about a laminating and binding machine…of which I have neither. I love making homemade books so much and I just imagine how nifty it would be to have a binder!
