Parables Bible lessons

A few years ago our church used parables as their theme for our Vacation Bible School. Parables are great lessons for kids because they are short, have an easy-to-make point, and have the possibility of being interactive. They are super easy to turn into skits, which gets more group participation, and so I just generally love our Parables Bible lessons, and they make a great addition to the Bible curriculum.

I still have several more lessons I need to add in, but so far I have around 10-15 I think. Watch me realize I do not have that many.

Parables video list

So far I have five parables videos. I ran into a problem with filming more as we changed how our house was set up and where I was filming them became no longer available. If I want to film any more I’ll probably have to do it as popsicle stick theater, OR just film myself playing all the parts.

I’m going to wander around the YouTube world later and see what I can find for more videos to create a whole new playlist of other people’s Parables videos.

Parables resources

Let me dig around in my bookshelves and my DVD shelves to see just what I have.

• Princess Parables– we have some of this series, but the different books in the series are retellings of different parables
• All the Parables of the Bible– I’m going to have to pick this up, it includes all of the parables in the Bible (duh, that’s the title), but it also has commentary on the parables, which intrigues me
• What’s in the Bible 10– covering the events of the Gospels, it also covers how Jesus taught the parables and why
• Sigh, I cannot find some of the other books we have are not easily found as they are picture books of the various parables, but there are many picture books using the same names, so know good ones exist
