Don’t miss out on protecting your family online

November 1, 2016 Ticia 1 Comment

A few weeks ago I told you all about how I’m protecting my family online.  I wanted to update you on how Gryphon is doing with their campaign, and give you three more ideas for protecting your family online.

protecting your family online

First  Gryphon has gotten some pretty impressive awards and mentions.  They’ve been mentioned by:

San Diego Tribune

Wall Street Journal

9 to 5 Toys

Curbed

Uncrate

In the two weeks the Gryphon Kickstarter has been live they are almost to their goal (when I checked a few minutes ago they were only $10,000 short).  If you have not reserved one, they’ve extended the early bird special through November 6, and everyone who backs the Kickstarter will get a free year of intrusion detection and whole house malware filtering.

3 more tips for protecting your family online

1.  Electronics are only allowed in public areas.

2.  Set time limits for “electricity time” (this is what we currently do, and ties back to my earlier tips, and as I said Gryphon helps with that.).

3.  Teach them about internet security.  Don’t share your passwords, regularly change passwords, etc… (this came up in our family because of the Yahoo data breach).

We use Covenant eyes and really haven’t been disappointed. And we are so pleased not to have ever had any electronics in bedrooms or upstairs. We still need to pull in how often the guys are on their phone, even though we have strict limitations they still manage to notch up 3 hours most days. We would love it to be nearer the two hour mark. We’ll get there in the end, but it is slow going….
