Science Sunday: Beware the TERRIBLE LAUNDRY DISEASE!
It all started Friday March 15. Technically it was Saturday, March 16, at 4 am.
Batman came downstairs to report Superman had thrown up on both of their beds. First Superman threw up on his bed, so Batman let his brother sleep in the same bed as him, only to be thrown up on.
We collected the sick child and put him in the bath to get cleaned off. Then the LAUNDRY DISEASE struck again, and we had several towels to clean up.
For the next several hours Superman would alternate between being sick and taking baths. I think he took a months worth of baths that night/morning, all because of the LAUNDRY DISEASE!
He was very sick for 2 days, and produced 5 loads of laundry. Maybe more, I lost count after the first 4 loads. And these aren’t just the normal loads, no they’re the 3 hour sanitize loads.
Then Sunday afternoon Batman got sick. That night he managed to get every single sheet that fit MY bed dirty, another 3 loads of laundry. We scrounged up a flat sheet, covered it with towels, and then I had 2 more loads of laundry because of the TERRIBLE LAUNDRY DISEASE, and another night of no sleep.
Batman was sick all of Monday, of course not sick enough to remember it half the time, instead he kept trying to poke his brother. So, I played referee to two boys who were sick enough not to be able to do anything, but not so sick that they didn’t have energy.
Then the TERRIBLE LAUNDRY DISEASE struck again………… And more cruely than before, it hit the parents, DUN DUN DUUUNNNNNNN………….
Jeff and I spent a miserable day or so. There are many thanks to my Mom who took the kids out of the house so Jeff and I could sleep. She took one for the team, and caught a mild version of it herself. Apparently, you’re more prone to get it if you spend 3 days with a sick child draped on you, than a not sick child playing at your house.
So, all of this to say, we did nothing this week.
We watched movies on Netflix and learned about animals that way, but it was nothing impressive. I commented and pinned almost everyone, and I could have sworn I’d saved some to share in a post, but I opened it up Saturday morning afternoon, and there was nothing. Like my computer ate it.
So, I’m gonna play hooky from everything today. It’s been that kind of week, and to some extent two weeks. Hopefully, things will look better after a day spent pretending to be in a fictional version of the Renaissance populated with fairies.
And being lazy, I’m just gonna hit publish, so I don’t have to worry about this tomorrow night, ARGH morning.
Let’s see what others did this week:
Each week I’m spotlighting a few posts that were shared previously. Many posts get linked up later in the week and they don’t always get as many clicks as they deserve, so I’m trying to spotlight a few every week.
Ordinarily I’d spotlight people who’ve linked up last week, but there’s that whole eating my post thing, and sickness. So, I’m gonna point out a couple of places to get some great science ideas:
The Homeschool Scientist– If you want ideas or information about homeschool science, this is a great place to go.
All Things Beautiful– I regularly feature her stuff, and link up pretty regularly for her History and Geography linkie. When I grow up my homeschool will be like hers.
Highhill Homeschool– Another blog I regularly feature. She does a great job of being super thorough with her studies of every subject.
STEM Mom– I’ve only recently found this one, so I’m not as familiar with her. From what I’ve seen so far she’s got some fun ideas to check into.

I am familiar with the Laundry Disease . It is a terrible terrible thing and I am so sorry. Hope everyone is on the mend soon.
Thankfully it’s all passed, but it was a LOOOOONG week.
Oh, how horrible! Hope you’re having some lovely rest now.
Ticia, I wasn’t able to bring up a picture to crop on the last two entries- not sure what happened.
Take careHmmm……. I don’t think I can fix the picture problem, but the links are there, I’ll see if it’s possible to change the pictures.
You poor things! I am so sorry, and yes, I do know about Laundry Disease as well. You know, we even get it when people are well.
Oh my goodness what a horrible week – poor you 🙁
Sorry you had such a yucky week!
I don’t blame you one bit for “playing hooky”! I am so sorry you’ve all been sick!
