Last week I shared our kangaroo pouch. Well, now you get to see how we used that pouch.
First we tried to hop like a kangaroo. The kids found it to be very tiring, and were amazed when they found out God actually made kangaroos so it’s easier for them to hop long distances than it is for us to run.
Then they wrote what they learned in their junior journals (side note, I AM IN LOVE with these things. I may have written a slightly gushing review before, but the more I use it, the more I LOVE IT). Okay end of my rave.
This is Princess’, maybe….. Actually it has to be one of the boys, because that is a boy desk. It says: Kangaroo {and} wallaby can hafe {have} joeys. Looking back at other pictures, it’s Superman’s. That would make sense because he was the one obsessed with wallabies.
Than we learned about opossums and how they play dead to discourage predators. Of course we had to act that out. They’d run around like crazy and then I’d yell, “PREDATOR!”
As soon as they heard that they’d drop on the floor and act like they were dead. It was a huge hit, and we had to act that out several more times to make them happy. It made them unbelievably happy.
Let’s see what others did this week:
Each week I’m spotlighting a few posts that were shared previously. Many posts get linked up later in the week and they don’t always get as many clicks as they deserve, so I’m trying to spotlight a few every week.
Weiser Academy shared a great way to explore magnets with younger kids. Look at all of the great things laid out (and that’s not all she used!).
Highhill Homeschool shared another great anatomy post with a model of the cell. Technically she’s studying it as part of a unit on cells, but I’ll probably use this with our anatomy when we study it next year.

Don’t forget to visit the other people linking up and say hi! I’m leaving the linkie open for 2 weeks, because we’re taking next week off, and I’m guessing most of you are as well. Feel free to link up any science posts over the next few weeks and I’ll comment and pin as I have time!
