Scripture Lullabies to destress your life

November 25, 2013 Ticia 14 Comments

For anyone who’s been reading my blog for the last few months, you know it’s been a stressful fall.  Well, a few months ago I received a great opportunity.  A chance to review some CDs, and I accepted thinking it’d be great for my daughter, but let me tell you how it’s helped my whole family, a bit of an unusual Bible lesson.

Scripture lullabies when you need to relax

{Disclosure, I received a free copy of Scripture Lullabies and was compensated for my time, but I’ve been truly blessed by these CDs so I’m planning on buying the next one that comes out soon}

Let me tell you a story about Scripture Lullabies

I first got my Scripture Lullaby CDs (Volume 1 and Volume 2) right after we got back from my Grandma’s funeral.  I was overly tired and had too much to do before we headed out of town again.  I popped them in to listen to them, and discovered it was putting me to sleep.  Perfect, that’s what I wanted them to do for my daughter, who doesn’t sleep.  I mean ever, or so it seems to me.  So, I sent the CDs up with Princess to put her to sleep.

And I’ll be honest they didn’t put her to sleep.  But it still achieved my goal of relaxing her and getting her to sleep sooner.  Previously she’d been listening to music she danced to, which does not help calm you down for bed.

Scripture Lullabies does put my boys to sleep

Occasionally my kids still need naps in the middle of the day, they’re grumpy, they’re fighting, and I’m at my wits’ end.  So, they all lay down on the couch in different spots, and I put on calming music from Pandora.

And that works until the loud and jarring ad comes on and startles all of them back to awareness.

Enter my Scripture Lullabies CD.  I put them on my phone and just play them, and the boys slowly drift off to sleep.

Are you ready for how I use it most often?

Scripture Lullabies has been helping me relax

Relaxation with Scripture Lullabies

I mentioned that I’ve been stressed, that’s probably an understatement, but I have been.  One of my methods to deal with stress is taking a bath.  I’ll find a good book, run the hottest water I can stand, and put on a Pandora station that’s relatively calming, “Spa Suite Radio,” or “Ocean Waves,” or maybe “Beethoven.”  BUT, there’s always that jarring ad.

On a whim, because I had a killer migraine one day, and was feeling horrid, I tried listening to the Scripture Lullabies that day.  And I loved it.  The music is soothing, and I loved that it was scripture rather than some random chanting or foreign language I didn’t understand.

See, I don’t believe you can learn everything through osmosis, but I do know you absorb more than you realize to what you hear in the background.  Think about how many jingles you can sing from commercials without thinking about it.

So, I’ve been slowly absorbing Bible verses.  My two favorites have been “I Am Here” and “I Will Never Leave You.”  It’s been good to hear those reminders when I’m stressed and at my rope’s end.

My one complaint for Scripture Lullabies?

I’d love for Scripture Lullabies to have the reference as part of the songs.  If I hear the reference with the verse, than I’ll remember the reference later when I say the verses, but otherwise I don’t tend to remember the reference.

But all told, that’s a minor pick.  There’s even a few immensely relaxing songs that I feel myself just melting into a puddle as I listen, I just feel the muscles relaxing.

Hmmmm……  I may just go listen to one again, and MAYBE go to sleep before midnight tonight (I’m writing this at night, scheduled to be published in the morning).

Buy your own copy of Scripture Lullabies

Scripture Lullabies sells for $14 each.  Currently there are two CDs out, but a third one is due out any day now.

This has been on my list for a while to get, partly for my kids, partly for me. This inspires me to make it a greater priority to get it!

Love that you found something that works for your entire family… except Princess, that is. Smarty has a hard time falling asleep too, or so she claims. Usually I come in 30 min later, and she is out.

I’d love either one, but Volume 1 looks especially good.

Either CD would be great, but I guess I would start with the first one.

Sounds like something that may help my youngest two, who often can’t relax enough to fall asleep.

We love learning Scripture put to music at our house. I still remember Bible verses in song I learnt years ago! We’d love to have Vol. 2. Thanks.
