Sharing the Gospel with others

Every year our association of churches does kids clubs all throughout the Austin area, sharing the Gospel with others.  My church does clubs in parks in an under-served area of Round Rock, it’s a departure from our usual Bible lessons, BUT it’s always amazing to watch it done.

Sharing the Gospel with others

Why share the gospel with others?

Some of these kids don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

Some don’t know where their Dad is.  Or maybe they do know, and that’s the problem.
Some desperately need a hug.

Or a meal.

Or love.

But their needs go beyond just food or a hug. The real reason we go is because they need Jesus.

Yes, as trite as that sounds, I truly believe God will change your life.

sharing the gospel with others means carrying heavy things

So we go and share the gospel

Each summer our church loads trailers full and brings giant inflatables and meals for one week.

We haul the inflatables out, blow them up, and hose it down when it gets too hot. Clear out any fire ant piles so the kids can safely play in the grass.

sharing the gospel with others means serving them where they are

At the end of the night we give away any leftover food, and the kids take sometimes take home whole pizzas to share with family members who can’t come.

People take off work.  They give up a week of their summer.  The teens leading it give up two weeks of their summer, one week of training, and the week of clubs.  They don’t sleep much that week, they get tired.

I don’t think they believe they’re giving up anything……..  I certainly didn’t when I was a teen doing that.  Each summer I spent a month doing various mission trips.  I grew so much those summers as I was sharing the gospel with others.

So, if your kid ever gets a chance to serve like this, or if you’re given the opportunity to serve and volunteer for something bigger than you.

JUMP AT IT!  Take a running leap and jump as fast as you can to volunteer.  It will change your life for the better.

All that to say, I’m gonna put some posts up this week about all the cool things we did, and some other Bible stuff I’ve done recently for Sunday School.  I had planned to write all about it here, but honestly, I just wanted to say take a step out in faith, see what God does.

What an awesome thing to run – and a fantastic opportunity for kids and teens!

It's so exciting to see teens on fire for the Lord, and already serving, and realizing what a privilage it is to be able to share the Good News with children!

    1. I know, it's one of the things I love about my church. They build it in young, and then go from there.

    Amazing!

  4. This is really great to be able to help underprivileged children, and it's a great lesson in leadership and service for the kids. I hope that one day Anna joins YMCA leadership program that does a lot of the same things. So sad that there are so many of children in need of a meal and attention in one of the richest country in the world.
