So thankful for Illuminations this week

November 23, 2013 Ticia 10 Comments

I just thought I’d say that, originally I was going to write a nice long and satisfying to me post about our week, but if I’m honest I don’t have time to do that.

Illuminations work

It felt good to check something off on my Illuminations schedule grid, because I certainly didn’t get all of my sewing done.

005

Princess’ dress has buttons.

008

I have boots for the wedding, yes you don’t care about this, but this was a major ordeal.  I HATE shoe shopping, with a passion, and it’s done, with horrid high heels and everything.  Stupid heels.

004

Princess had a great birthday celebration.

014

And I sewed some more.  Last night Jeff and I took a break as Mom kept the kids overnight, and we are having {Da da da da, that’s fanfare music} “The Date Night of Three Movies Based on Books,” and that based is only loosely, some characters may have been violated in the adaptation of the movie.  The names were sadly not changed to protect innocent characters.

ARGH, changing the subject before I tell you HOW truly terrible the new Percy Jackson movie was.  OH MY GOODNESS it was horrid.

Cute puppies, fuzzy kittens, warm fires

Okay, I’m better now.  Ummm…..  I’m going to go read the book before I spend 1000 words telling you how this movie destroyed the book.  Stepping away from the keyboard.

I’m with you on the evils of shoe shopping – and good to know about the Percy Jackson movie!

I’m with you on the shoe shopping. My sister couldn’t believe what I wore on my feet as maid of honour her wedding. I’d been so sure I could get away with my old work shoes with my red dress. They were shiny patent and everything.

My kids are completely with you on the Percy Jackson movie. They came out of the cinema very vocally disgusted! I on the other hand hadn’t read the book (I listened to the first with them) and I loved the movie!

Happy Birthday Princess. Good luck with the dress. I’ve finally got around to writing a science post ready for whenever you feel able to host again!

Almost every wedding I’ve been in, my shoe choice has been nixed as not proper enough. Sigh.

My husband got to listen to the many evils of the incorrectness of it. It was truly horrid.

Haha I’ve been wearing socks with sandals because it’s too cold to just wear sandals and I have no shoes right now and I hate shopping for shoes THAT much. I actually HAVE looked, at least twice, but it’s hard to find something that fits my funky feet.

I agree it is hard to find good shoes, hence the hatred of shoe shopping.

      We saw:
Ender’s Game- I enjoyed it, but haven’t read the book for 10 years, so couldn’t remember it clearly. It drove Jeff nuts because he could tell all of the parts they’d messed up or compressed.
      Percy Jackson- UGH
Catching Fire- overall the best of the 3, AND fairly true to the book.

Why, of why, can’t they get Percy Jackson’s movies right? It’s rather sad, because daughter wants to see them, and I keep saying “No way”.

I know, we’re waiting to let the kids read Percy Jackson (I don’t know why, but in my mind it’s a bit more “adult” than the first few Harry Potter, so we’re thinking when they’re able to read it on their own they should be old enough), but I don’t think they’ll see the movies. Other than MAYBE to compare how bad it is in comparison to the books.

I don’t like any kind of shopping, but I especially hate shoe shopping. I tend to wear the same pair of shoes (each season) until they fall apart. Reagan, on the other hand, loves shoe shopping and if you ask what she would like to do for a special outing, her answer is almost always SHOE SHOPPING!
