Summer Bucket List for learning and play

We’ve been so-so at achieving our goals for Summer Bucket lists in previous years.  Partially I had big huge plans, partially I came up with too much, but what’s a bucket list like this for if not to be way more than you can accomplish?

This year as I was scanning Facebook one day I saw a quick glimpse of a photo dividing the summer week up into different themed days.  It stuck in my mind, but when I went back later to look at it again I couldn’t find it.  Ahhhh the inconsistencies of Facebook.  So, I apologize in advance for whoever’s idea I’m adapting, and I wish I could credit you.

I want to come up with ideas for things my kids will enjoy, and will still keep them learning to some extent.  I don’t want to overdo goals, so aside from a few for me, I’m not going to come up with specific things.  If we don’t achieve it all, the world will not end………

Future Ticia 2023 interrupting my Summer Bucket list post

Hi! So, I can tell you how this went 10 years later.

We didn’t do the themes every day of the summer. Some themes I kept up, we definitely did some geography every week, and we did some of the ideas I listed, but not all of them, and sometimes we did more that I didn’t even think of at the time I wrote this post.

Mainly, I want to encourage you, that it’s okay if you create a fun bucket list and it doesn’t all happen, it’s great whatever you are able to do.

Me Mondays Summer Bucket List

This is the day to achieve my goals:

  • Sewing: I want to sew a doll backpack for each of the kids, fabric is all picked out, and one is 3/4 done (Future Ticia 2023 says, this was completed).  I also need to sew more dresses for Princess, along the lines of her Rapunzel dress (she has lived in some variation of this dress for the past 3 years), and 10 million shorts for the boys (both of these were completed).
  • Organizing, I want the toys in something that pretends to resemble an order.  I also need to put away about 50 books.  I may or may not be good at putting away things……. (this was done in part, but probably not as much as I wanted)
  • Blogging, I want to revise and mess around with a few things on my blog.  The tabs at the top aren’t quite what I’m blogging about now (I don’t write about crafts as much), it’s more content area stuff. (I’m guessing some format of this was done)

Towards both of those ends, you’ll probably see a few posts on here from time to time covering blogging and organizing.  Because that will give me motivation to get it done.  That’s my theory.

Hi, Future Ticia 2023 here, I’m slowly deleting and redirecting blogging posts from my blog because I don’t really think you’re here to read about blogging.

Trip Tuesday Summer Bucket List

The day for field trips, and going places.  I plan to send out an invite to my friends in the area saying, here’s our plan for this day, join us if you want to……..

I don’t know how many of these we actually made it to, I know all of these have happened at one point or another with the exception of the Creation Museum. I have never managed to make it to that museum here in Texas.

Wet and Wild Wednesday Summer Bucket List

My goal is to do all of these, but no guarantees……

Travel Thursday Summer Bucket List

I figure I can do a bunch of our geography stuff during the summer, maybe finally finish up our 50 State Study (HA! That did not happen)

Summer bucket list for simple and easy fun

Fun Friday Summer Bucket List

My theory is we’ll cover some random themes that interest me or the kids, here’s my ideas, but we may not stick to these:

So, that’s my general idea for our summer bucket list, we’ll see how I do when summer is over.  I know some of these will get done……….

I have two groups that really inspired me to get this done, first Kelly over at Little Wonders’ Days,  thank you for hosting this year after year.

    Sounds like an exciting summer!

Our summer bucket list is a little confused at the moment, because I don’t know where we will be when yet!

    1. You know that doesn’t really surprise me, all things considered 🙂

  3. I love the format you have with an aim for each day!

Looks like your going to have a fun, creative summer. : )

    1. Thanks! I wish I could find that picture I saw that inspired me, but I think some amount of structure will really help me actually achieve it.

  4. This summer was the first time I had heard the term ‘bucket list’ I’m still not entirely sure what it stands for! I’m guessing a list of all the things you want to do over the summer? You’re list looks great and I think you are going to be kept very busy accomplishing everything on it!!

    1. A friend of mine first introduced it to me a few years ago. It’s similar to the bucket list (everything I want to do before I kick the bucket and die), except, as I’m interpreting it, it’s “everything I want to do before I kick the bucket over at the end of summer.”

  5. Tons of great ideas! I find it works best to divide my days somewhat all year (like try to make all the appointments on Thursday every week) so this might work well for us.

    1. In theory it works well for me too, we’ll see how I do with this and if I can stick to it…… My first test will be next week.

  6. I love, love your list. I think having a “theme” for each day is a neat way to organize your list. You have a lot of fun ideas too. Thanks for linking up to the summer bucket list party.

    1. Fingers crossed that my theme days work!

  7. Great list! I loved how you kept it simple and more laid back! I am so type A I sometimes have a hard time when I don’t complete everything on the list!

    1. I figured out a few years ago that I set unrealistic goals that I can’t possibly accomplish all of it, so I just do my best.

Now in other areas I am so incredibly ridiculously type A, it’s insane.

  8. I love that you have a plan and structure – this will probably help to stay on track. I also love an idea of “Me Monday”. Will the kids take any classes in the summer?

    1. The boys are going to summer camp again for a week, and Princess has American Heritage Girls, and she’ll be working on a few badges over the summer.
