Princess loves tea parties. I get requests for them on a fairly routine basis, and she has several tea sets of her own in addition to mine. So, it was only natural she’s have a tea party birthday party.

All of the girls were invited and asked to wear their prettiest princess clothes. It was fun to see them show up in their best princess dresses.

When they arrived they had their assigned seat with their name artfully drawn by either Princess, or my mother-in-law. And a necklace for them to take home. Can you guess who drew this one? (buttons added to the picture to hide the name)

They spent the next 30 minutes coloring their tea cups and decorating them to their hearts content.
When everyone was done we put the cups in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 (as directed here).

While the cups cooked the girls created jewelry for themselves with a set I picked up from the Dollar Store.

After interest waned in the jewelry they started to decorate cupcakes. I gave them each a small cupcake, some pink frosting to use with popsicle sticks for “knives.”

Spread around the table were tea cups with various toppings in them (colored sugar, sprinkles, whatever I had on hand).
Some of those cupcakes were so heavily covered in sugar I thought the girls were going to literally vibrate out of their chairs when they ate them.

We gave the cups a few extra minutes to cool down (they cooled down amazingly fast) so they were ready for our tea party while Princess tore through her presents.

And finally they got to eat their cupcakes. They also had strawberries, mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls, petite-fours (which were wrapped in fondant, not a hit), some pink candy melts, and a few other variations of sugar.

All in all, Princess’ face at the end of the party said it all. This was a rousing success, and everyone was happy.
