The dangers of paint

or, how my daughter turned my bath tub black.

So, the boys got easels for their birthday and have been busily creating masterpieces.  If masterpieces can be mass-produced.

Why do I bring this up? As you can see Princess really enjoys her painting.  But, the first day I let them actually free paint whatever they wanted this is what I discovered her doing:

In case you can’t tell that is her painting her arm.  Her entire arm.  Well, I sent her off to wash her hands and she reappeared a minute later naked, with more paint on her.  I think the paint started multiplying, or something.  So I gave in and gave her the much-requested bath while the boys took a shower.  After her bath, the tub was rather dirty.

This does not reveal the true extent of filthiness.  That is after I tried washing it down with a wet washcloth, foolishly thinking it would just come off easily.  This is after it has been sitting with soap on it for about five minutes before I scrubbed it down.  Actually, after the soaking it came off fairly easily, but still.  Gross much?

I like that you paused to take a picture of Princess painting her arm, before you stopped her – very funny!

Hysterical! R loves to get paint all over herself. I try to stay cool about it, but inside I'm crying!

  4. Wow! This reminds me why I always keep an eye on Mouse while she paints 🙂 Good thing that the paint came off after all.

  5. (Is it sad to say our tub has looked like this before WITHOUT the help of paint? “ahem”)

  6. I am glad to see you found a space for the easels.
She was just be extra creative mom. LOL!!

  7. He He He ! This is almost a daily event in my house !!!

I quickly discovered Crayola's Washable paints, markers, & crayons.

Save yourself some elbow grease and check them out !!

Even the big kids got into painting the littles and each other when they were here. The only difference is that time MOM didn't have to clean up ! 😉

Thanks for the giggle, I needed it today.

Too funny. She can work for Blue Man Group! JC always wanted to paint herself but never dared to. This would be a fun activity to do outside on a sunny day so you can hose them off!

  9. Now you know why the only paints we use around here are the bubble bath paints. The first thing Selena does is start painting herself. LOL!

  10. Oh gross, I hate when stuff in the kids' bathwater gets stuck in the soap scum on the tub. Is it rotten that I make E sprinkle it down with baking soda and help me scrub? 🙂 Looks like she had fun, a future artist!

  11. Very gross! Crumpet has started to do that – paint himself, stamp himself with stamps, glue himself… I thought he would do it when he was younger, but not now. Oh well, I figure it's probably an interesting sensation, and it's all about experimenting…

  12. I can't wait until Johnsie stops painting himself. He helped me paint a desk yesterday and of course painted his foot. It was black paint too. UGH

That is funny! I am a big fan of painting outside. Especially with multiple artists!
