Invested life book review Bible discipleship

The Invested Life

In case you haven’t been able to tell, I love to read.  I have several authors that I jump at the chance to read anything they’ve written, and Joel Rosenberg is on that list.  Joel Rosenberg writing about discipleship that I might apply to my Bible lessons, like in The Invested Life: Making Disciples of All Nations One Person at a Time (affiliate link), that’s PERFECT.

He’s the rare author that can write good fiction that you don’t want to put down and compelling non-fiction that makes you think.

our Joel Rosenberg fiction books

We have all of his fiction books, and a few of his non-fiction.  I’m slowly collecting them.

So, when I was given a chance to read his new book about discipleship, “The Invested Life: Making Disciples of All Nations One Person at a Time,” I jumped at the chance.  Literally, okay figuratively.  I could almost hear God whispering in my ear, “You need to read this.”

He was right.

I’m devouring the book in chunks and am planning to go back and read it again with a highlighter and a notebook.  Then I bought a copy on our Nook, so Jeff and I can read it together to talk about it.  I’ve got a list of people who I think would enjoy reading it.

Future Ticia says I gave away my copy of The Invested Life

Hey, Future Ticia 2022 here, I wanted to get some pictures of the book as I’m updating the post, and I couldn’t find it. Then I dug up this memory of talking to one of the leaders at our church, and talking about the book, and then handing him our copy.

So, I no longer have the physical copy

How is it set up?  Well, the table of contents is the major questions you need to be asking as you read it.

At the end of each chapter are discussion questions.  They’re not just “what do you think?”  They’re actually dig into the Bible and think about this.  Apply it to your life.

Picture a happy Ticia dancing as she reads this.

This quote was the first one I got my highlighter out for.  It’s about 10 pages in.  It said what my soul cries out at times.  I want to be discipled too, I want to find someone to talk with about these things.

So, I’m forming a plan.  I’m looking for someone to disciple.  Beyond my kids or my Sunday School class.  I’ve got some people in mind, and I’m praying.

Be praying for me, because I think this can be an amazing step out in ministry.

I’ve never heard of this author, but that’s awesome that you liked the book so much!

    1. If you like political thrillers, you’d really enjoy his fiction books. His earlier non-fiction are actually the research for his fiction books.
