The two weeks of busyness, make that a month of busyness
So, if you’re wondering why I’ve been randomly communicative and then not, let me give you a peek into my last 5 weeks. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride.
Originally this post was going to be split up into school stuff, and life in general, but it’s just going to be a horrible mash of whatever occurs to me as I write it because it really has been THAT MONTH. or fall, the verdict is still out for November.
I finished up Princess’ “practice flower girl dress,” and she found the perfect pin to wear with her dress for the wedding. I figured out:
1. Hook and eyes are horrible for a closure for it.
2. She almost needs a size smaller size for her bodice, silly skinny girl.
3. On a related note, It needs to come in about an inch or so to look right.
I snuck a picture of Batman’s (maybe) small group at church, they were meeting outside because there’s THAT MANY kids, and it was so loud it worked better to discuss outside.
We made apple muffins, I’m thinking of selling them at our garage sale tomorrow, do you have a refreshment booth when you do a garage sale? My kids are sure we need one because it was on Max and Ruby.
Notice that statement of garage sale tomorrow? Yeah that didn’t happen. It rained.
We celebrated Jeff’s birthday with family and friends. We continued our annual tradition of the kids getting him presents. They got him Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander {affiliate link} because they decided he REALLY like Duck Dynasty {affiliate link, which I’ll admit is rather true, he does like it}. But the confused look came about because they gave him miniatures for gaming that weren’t quite what he had in mind.
Then we spent the night playing Dominion, an excellent strategy game I’ll teach the kids in a year or so. You need higher level thinking skills and strong reading skills to play it. They’ll be just the right age to start it once we reach an applicable point in history. So many great games coming in a year or two for them.
Then came the marathon packing and getting ALL the stuff done as we packed to head up to Colorado for my Grandma’s funeral. And yes, I did get everything done, I just may have had my priorities slightly out of order and put up the chicken mummy first.
On the way up we stopped in Abilene to the ACU’s homecoming musical (Jeff’s birthday present), Les Miserables. It was probably one of the best productions I’ve ever seen, and there were man aspects that this college production brought out better than the movie version did.
We got up to Colorado and got to hang out with my sister-in-law, brother, and nephew quite a bit, ironic considering they live 30 minutes from us. We stopped at Passages, which is an awesome Biblical history museum, if it ever comes near you go, at least once. They don’t allow pictures inside, so I can’t show you its’ awesomeness, but I took pictures of all the things I wanted to buy in the gift shop. And there were 2 million geese near our hotel.
Which led immediately into frantically preparing our history reports on Egyptian mythology and a birthday party for 3 of our friends that day. It was a blast and the kids loved it. They presented, ate food, had treats, AND watched Monsters University {affiliate link} together. Which catapulted me into the week before Halloween…
Aunt Tara had her last day teaching Sunday School, where she was mobbed by the kids as they gave her the cards they signed and lots and lots of hugs. She wasn’t able to move for about 10 minutes with all the kids surrounding her.
The week of Halloween was a mad flurry of packing, making Halloween costumes (angel, glass of milk, and a bat), carving pumpkins, and generally doing way more than I thought I could. But it was lots of fun.
And that was my whirlwind October.

Wow, you are even more busy than we are! Happy Birthday, Jeff!!
Yeah, and it’s about to get a lot busier for the next several weeks. So much to do!
The holidays ought to seem like a piece of cake after all of that!
Oh my yes. The holidays are going to be a cakewalk this year, and much calmer.
What a busy month! Glad you survived – although, I’m guessing November won’t be much calmer?
Sigh, not looking like it. Getting worse and worse by the minute. Good news, I got a dress finished for Princess’ birthday, and her bodice partially done.
Gosh, I need to sit down! How on earth did you fit it all in? In contrast, we had a week off last week and I did absolutely nothing. Nada. It was perfect!
Hope things calm down in November and do wish Jeff a happy birthday.Nothing, that sounds glorious!
Wow, slow down, friend 🙂 But then, again, with the holidays and with Princess birthday it’s not likely to happen, isn’t it?
Natalie
Nope, her birthday is looking like a calm event for me……
Whew!! What a month it was! I hope things settle down for you some!!
Oh forgot to ask how you like Dominion? I got it for Christmas and we love it 🙂
We love it! Jeff just got one of the expansions for his birthday and we haven’t had a chance to play with the expansion yet.
WOW, Ticia, you must be some sort of superwoman. I barely got anything done in comparison to you and I whined about what a busy month October was. And now you have thanksgiving and the holiday season coming up. Plus Tara’s wedding. Amazing! You are such an inspiration! So far I’ve managed to stay on track with my homeschooling, managed to keep the little one engaged by weaning him off violent video games to more educational ones. He loves https://www.schoolofdragons.com/ now. Does the princess have any games she likes? Hope you are well
She loves Jumpstart, and my boys love both Minecraft and Plants Vs. Zombies. They also as a whole like the Skylander video games, and actually Princess just got a new Skylander figure for her birthday today.
