Creating a war room to change the world
Today is one of my very rare guest posts, and this one is super special because my daughter, Princess is writing it. I’ve been teaching her homeschool Bible since she was an itty bitty baby, and now at 9 she’s got a pretty firm grasp of what she believes, and recently she created a war room for us to pray together.

What is a war room?
This is one of those new trendy terms in the church. About a year ago a new movie came out called War Room about prayer. Back in January our church had a girls’ night showing the movie and Princess went with me. She was one of about 3 tween girls watching the movie, which gave many of the adults big smiles as the girls reacted.
While the movie was an idealized example of how things can change with prayer, through history you can see examples where big changes happened because people started praying.
So, I asked my little Princess to write about our war room, or in reality her war room, because she took that idea and RAN with it.
How we use our War Room
(I’ve edited it slightly for clarity and spelling, though I left in a few errors I found too cute)
My mom and I share a war room together. First we each find a verse and put It on a index* or post-it note* and put it on the wall.(we tape the index card {with washi tape, because a girl’s gotta make her prayers sparkly, oh and the War Room is a great deal of why we go through so many post-its and index cards, Mommy edit}) Then we choose a prayer request and do the same thing as we did with the verse. We got the idea when we saw “War room.” I thought it would be a good mom and daughter thing but we forget a lot {more of she remembers at bed time and asks when she should have been in bed 20 minutes earlier, we may both share problem of being rather ADD, Mommy edit}.
I usually pray for my family and {praises for prayers answered}, but mom prays for the government, the ISIS group to come to Christ, and the church.
But one morning Mom told me that are cousins are having attitude problems so I prayed for it and I can’t go into detail because it is unappropiate {I’m leaving that because I think it’s so cute, we have some adopted cousins that I explained the situation with inappropriate decisions, and that’s all she knows} so anyway that’s what happened that time. Another time my grandmother asked me to pray for her dog, and I did her dog is much better now thanks to God.
Final Mommy thoughts
Our War Room is a room I don’t naturally go into unless I’m looking for something, and the other day I went up and was happily surprised to see the wall covered in washi tape and index cards Princess had written. There were prayers for pets, for friends experiencing bullying, her brother’s back pain, and so many more things that I just sat down and had to read them all.
My Mom refers to me as a prayer warrior, but I pale in comparison to my daughter. She says she will pray for you, and then she goes back to her War Room and prays.
I aspire to that consistency and follow through.
Let’s find some more prayer ideas!

Well done, Princess!
Princess, this is a wonderfully written post. It is a great idea and you explained it well. I especially like your examples. I am looking forward to seeing more posts from you.
It is really neat to see her dedication and the way she is using this space. Oh, to have a room that wasn’t being constantly used – or just a space for kids to retreat like this…
So, back in January we took what used to be the playroom and made it into the kids’ room, all three of them. Now their old rooms became the libraries, and the kids go to them to play from time to time.
What a treat to read a post written by your daughter. Please do tell her she did a great job! I am hoping for a war room once we have moved our stuff out into the shed 🙂
Hey, Lady! (Princess) ~ What an awesome spiritual discipline you’re developing–and what an honor it is that we can approach the King of the Universe in prayer. Good job, girlfriend! ~ Danika
