WiseDecor stencil review
I’ve always liked the look of the WiseDecor stencils. A friend of mine here has this gorgeous Bible verse on her wall, and I love the way it looks. I distinctly remember talking to her about it and being jealous of how carefully she had done the paint, and then she told me it’s a wall decal, and all she had to do was make sure it was nice and even.
I was in awe of that idea. Fast forward several years and I’m working with my fellow family discipleship bloggers and Tauna brought up the WiseDecor giveaway and a review, and I said, “Yes, yes I’ll do it.” And then I psyched myself out.
Ya’ll I sat there with the stencil taped up for a week because I was scared to do it. I’d had a very bad experience with a stencil in college, and was certain I’d mess something up on my very cool kitchen wall. Especially since my wall is textured, and they’re designed for non-textured walls.
But look how great it turned out! This is my first time since college doing a stencil and it was EASY. The hardest part was getting it straight, which took three tries, but now it’s wonderful.
WiseDecor Stencil Review
First off, I have to say their customer service is great. I was staring at the instructions because they made no sense to me, I sent an email off and they responded back quickly with, “Our apologies we sent you the wrong instructions, here’s the correct instructions.”
But, you peel the stencil off a sticky back and then you tape it to wherever you’re going to paint it. I’d highly recommend a second pair of eyes to tell you if the Wise decor stencil is level, because it’s easy to get it wrong.
Save the backing because you can put your stencil back on it at the end and use it over again (which will be wonderful if you’re painting a church or school with the same quote over and over again).
Two big tips I figured out to make it easier:
1. Use a Sponge Stippler*, it will minimize the paint leakage tremendously, also they are disposable, so you don’t feel the need to work hard to clean it. Only put a very small amount of paint onto it at a time.
2. Just dab straight up and down, this is more tiring, but it’ll give you much better results.
When you’re all done put your stencil onto its backing and roll it up. Mine is going into the mail today and is off to Tauna for her to put it up. Yes, WiseDecor does encourage you to share it with friends, and I can’t wait to see how Tauna’s turns out once she gets it.
Start to finish (actual work time where I hadn’t psyched myself out): 20 minutes

I’ve been contemplating one of those sticker verses, wondering how hard it would be to get the words straight. I hadn’t even considered paint. Yours looks great though – I might have to rethink my plans.
It wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be.
